A topic that has come up a lot recently in my group coaching programs is how do you influence, motivate and inspire those around you to perform at their best.
It’s a super interesting topic and one that has a number of angles to it. Today I want to explore with you one element or angle that makes a significant difference to being able to motivate, inspire and get the most out of your team and the people around you which is - Create A Community.
You see many leaders and business owners fall into the trap or the assumption that just because their team and the people around them are working and have a job, that they’re automatically inspired and motivated to perform at their best all the time. This simply isn’t true.
It is the role of every leader and every business owner to be looking for ways to constantly inspire and motivate those around them to continue to push themselves, to get outside of their comfort zone, and to perform at their best.
This requires that you change your perception from one of “everyone is here to do their job” and “everyone should just perform at their best all the time” to “how can I create an inspired and motivated community of people around me who are constantly supporting each other and inspiring each other to perform at their best”?
Shifting your orientation to creating a community around you, to creating a community within your team or your business is an absolute game changer.
In a community, everyone supports each other. In a community, everyone is inspired to lift each other up. In a community, everyone has the “all for one and one for all” mentality and approach.
If you can foster and lead this community initiative within your team, I can guarantee that everything will change. But you have to be willing to put the effort in to build this community.
This means WAY more connection points between you and your team members. It means encouraging your team to get together to brainstorm activities, to brainstorm strategies and to be part of the direction of where things are going in your team.
It means you being more of a vulnerable leader and creating that level of emotional intelligence, emotional awareness and emotional support in your team, whereby everyone feels like they are safe, they can open up and most importantly they can all be themselves and bring their unique personality style to the table.
So shift your orientation or viewpoint to one of creating a community in your team or business and watch your team’s performance go through the roof!
