Welcome to the start of a new year!
I’m sure you’ve got a million things running through your head in terms of what you’d like to achieve this year! And it’s awesome to have heaps of goals to work towards and it’s fantastic to have entered a new year with a level of energy and excitement towards what you’re wanting to achieve.
A trap that many fall into so easily at the start of a new year is getting excited, writing down a massive list of goals and things that you want to achieve this year, making a start on everything and taking massive amounts of action, then getting super overwhelmed and burnt out and by March they’re not taking any action towards their goals and they’re back to doing the same old thing that they did last year.
Today I want to talk to you about an amazing concept that’s been pivotal in my life and it’s helped my clients achieve the results and the success that they are looking for.
It’s a concept called Simplify, Prioritise, then Execute.
The reality is that you can’t be working on a heap of different strategies and initiatives at the one time. To do so would just blow you up, make you ineffective and see you go nowhere on any of the things that you want to achieve this year.
To get really effective and really successful at achieving what you want to achieve, you need to first Simplify.
Write down a list of everything that you want to achieve and work towards this year. Then from this list, pick your top three.
What we’re doing here is simplifying it right down from an overwhelming list of heap of things down to your top three initiatives.
You then want to Prioritise the one action that you’re going to take right now or today that will move you forward in each of these 3 areas.
Then you Execute. Then you pull the trigger on taking that action.
And you know what, it’s so much easier to take action on something when you’re really clear on the action that you need to take. You’re not overwhelmed by so many possibilities and so many actions, because you prioritise what’s important first, then take the action.
It’s really that simple. Simplify, Prioritise, then Execute.
If you get into the habit of doing this on a daily basis, you’ll reduce the level of overwhelm that you experience and you’ll get way better at taking the action that you need to take to move yourself forward.
Get after it!
