The Key To Great Client Relationships

This week I ran a really simple but effective exercise with my clients in my coaching programs. 

Now the exercise only took about 20 minutes, but it was incredibly powerful and gave my clients some key insights into how to build, develop and deepen their relationships with their key clients. 

Let me explain.

You see, everyone is so busy at the moment. Most people I’m talking to have work coming out of their ears!!

The big opportunity I see right now is developing your key client relationships. 

All of us are working on projects with key clients. All of us have key client relationships that we are honestly not nurturing properly at the moment. 

So, as I said, this exercise is really simple and I want to walk you through it right now.

The first step is to look at what it’s like right now for you and your key client relationships.

What are your clients pain points? What are they frustrated about right now? What are the things that are annoying them and the things that they’re struggling with the most right now? What do they need help with? 

The second part of the exercise is to look at what you want your key client relationship to look like.

What’s your aspiration for this key client relationship? How would you want to rate this relationship out of 10 in a year’s time? What are some things that you and your team could do differently to solve their frustrations, their pain points and their problems? How could you help your clients more that you already do? 

Now the final part of the exercise is action. 

Because if you don’t take action on these types of activities and exercises then nothing will change. 

So, what’s one action you’re going to take this week to change your key client relationship? What’s one action you’re going to take next week to make this key client relationship better? What’s one action you’re going to take this month to really accelerate this relationship? 

One final element that's worth exploring is what is one ongoing action that you and your team can build into how you deal with his client that’s really going to change the shape of the relationship? It could be doing things differently, it could be implementing some regular elements into that key client relationship or it could be adding in a new product or service. 

What’s one ongoing action that you and your team can take that will turn this relationship into a client who is a raving fan for life? 

Take the time to answer the above, take action on your answers and watch your key client relationships flourish!
