Thou Shalt Build A Business That YOU Want

Commandment #10 for consultancy business owners.
And this commandment is arguably the most important.
Making sure youâre building a business that you actually want to build.
And not a business based on what others want.
Now as you grow, itâs natural to look around you.
At what other business owners are doing and how theyâre doing it.
And itâs natural to look at them and tell yourself âthat looks great how theyâre running XYZ - Iâm going to copy thatâ.
But the 2 x big mistakes I often see with this approach is:
1) It isnât right for you and how you want to run your business at all.
Or
2) Itâs not the right timing for where your business is at.
People often blindly copy what others are doing or implement advice from others, without running it through these 2 x filters first.
At the end of the day - please remember, this is your business.
How you want to run it, work in it, take holidays from it.
Is up to you.
And itâs OK if you want to do business differently from everyone else.
Trust me - if you build a business based on what others are doing AND based on what others want (your team, clients etc.)
Youâll end up resenting your business.
And thatâs not the point.
The point of you running your own business is that it gives you the money, the lifestyle, the freedom and the enjoyment that YOU want.
So build a business that you want.
A business that you love and that inspires you to turn up every day motivated and energised.
Work out what YOU want, go after it and make it happen.
And youâll never need to âworkâ another day again.
