Today I want to talk to you about how to build your confidence in yourself as a leader.
Now, let's be honest, we all have areas of growth and development. To think that right here, right now we have all the skills we will ever need to be an effective leader and to lead and grow our team or business - is a complete non-truth.
A true growth mindset says that we always have the ability to learn, to grow and to get better.
So with this approach to life, who you are right now is absolutely not the person you’ll be in 5 or 10 years time.
And the person that you grow into as a leader in the next 5 or 10 years time is absolutely up to you. Who you become and who you grow in to will be the sum total of the decisions and the choices that you make today, tomorrow and the next day.
So when it comes to leadership and developing a level of confidence in yourself as a leader, it really boils down to you looking at your skill set right now and then looking at the skill set you want to develop, and then making a plan and a commitment for how you want to get there.
No don’t get me wrong, this journey isn’t easy. If you’re looking to build new skills, develop in areas that you’re currently not very well developed in and you’re looking to develop a leadership skill set that you’re truly proud of, this requires effort, this requires dedication, and a deep level of commitment to growth.
But the good news is, that over time you can develop these skills. You just need to turn up every day with a commitment to developing these skills, and overtime your confidence in your ability to lead more effectively and to grow your team or your business and to grow the people around you will happen.
Confidence in yourself as a leader, or any area of your life for that matter, isn’t something you are born with. It is something that you earn. It is something that you learn and it is something that you develop overtime.
So if you’d like to become better at having hard conversations, then you need to practice this on a daily basis until you’ve mastered it.
If you’d like to become better at sales and marketing, then you need to practice this on a daily basis until you’ve mastered it.
If you’d like to get better at delegation and strategic thinking, then you need to practice this on a daily basis until you’ve mastered it.
You get the idea right?
So don’t get discouraged that you don’t have the skills and you’re not at the level of leadership ability that you would like.
Instead get excited! Because you can absolutely learn and develop these skills over time.
Make the commitment today and let’s get started!
