Leverage Your Time

I hope you’re having an amazing week!

With everything being so hectic and so busy at the moment, today I want to talk to you about the importance of leveraging your time.

The reality is that you can’t do everything. And as a leader or business owner, you need to have your attention across all areas of your team or your business.

That means you need to be across winning work, new business, client relationships, team performance, an aspect of project delivery, as well as the strategic direction and growth of your team or your business.

You get it, “all of the things”.

If you try to be deeply across all of the areas of your team or your business that I’ve just mentioned above and you try to take responsibility for all of these areas, you’ll simply blow up and burn out.

So, if you want to be successful and grow a really profitable team and business, you have to get really good at leveraging your time.

Leveraging...

Repetition Is Key

Are you feeling incredibly frustrated that when you delegate something to your team, they just don't get it?

Do you feel that no matter how much you try your best to explain things, it seems like you are not being heard?

Did you know that human beings need to see, hear, or do something 7 to 10 times before they actually get it and are able do it by themselves?

So, if you are expecting that your team or the people around you will understand everything after explaining it once or twice, you will end up being VERY disappointed and frustrated.

As a business leader, it is important for you to understand that human behaviour will play a big part in the growth of your business.

Having a mindset and an awareness that it will take you 7 to 10 times to explain something before your team actually gets it, will help you immensely.

If you want to free yourself from some of your daily tasks, become a confident leader and grow a successful team & business – then...

How To Build Resilience

With the market as busy as it is right now, as well as there still being levels of uncertainty in our economy, building resilience is such a key skill for you to master.

Now resilience is absolutely a skill that can be developed and learnt, but it requires a level of self-awareness, self-reflection, a willingness to get a bit uncomfortable and to take consistent action to build this skill over time.

You see, resilience is essentially the way at which you view life circumstances, life situations and what is happening to you or around you. Resilience is also then the action that you choose to take in response to adversity and ‘negative’ things happening to you.

Let me tell you - if you get flustered, or overwhelmed, or want to bury your head in the sand and hide every time something doesn’t go your way, or a negative situation occurs in your day - then you aren’t going to be an effective leader and you aren’t going to be able to achieve the...

If You're Not Winning, You're Learning

Today I want to talk to you about a growth mindset concept called - If You’re Not Winning, You’re Learning.

If you haven’t read it yet - Mindset by Carol Dweck - then I highly recommend this book as it’s all about adopting a growth mindset for yourself.

A lot of us have learnt and have adopted a story within us that tells us that if we fail, then we are not good enough. We unfortunately tend to beat ourselves up when things don’t go to plan, we get hard on ourselves and down on ourselves, and this serves to reinforce a core or underlying belief that I’m no good when I fail or when things don’t go to plan.

There is however, a completely different way to look at our failures.

And that is to look at these failures through the lens of - I’m either winning or I’m learning.

And instead of beating ourselves up and getting down on ourselves when things don’t go to plan or things don’t work out for us,...

Why Understanding Your Personality Style Matters

I hope you’re having an amazing day.

Today I want to talk about why understanding your unique personality style matters.

Let me explain.

Recently I ran a training program for my clients in my Boardroom program. We are exploring at the moment how to motivate, inspire and influence their team around them to lead to greater levels of success for their team & business.

In this training, we explored the four different personality styles, what motivates each personality style, what drives and inspires each personality style as well as what demotivates each style.

The reason we are exploring this topic & concept is that so many leaders and business owners fall into the trap of assuming that they can lead everyone on their team, and everyone around them the same way in order to get the same results.

This is simply not true.

As I was walking everyone in the training through the four main personality styles, I made a comment that one particular personality style, called the...

Simplify Then Execute

Welcome to the start of a new year!

I’m sure you’ve got a million things running through your head in terms of what you’d like to achieve this year! And it’s awesome to have heaps of goals to work towards and it’s fantastic to have entered a new year with a level of energy and excitement towards what you’re wanting to achieve.

A trap that many fall into so easily at the start of a new year is getting excited, writing down a massive list of goals and things that you want to achieve this year, making a start on everything and taking massive amounts of action, then getting super overwhelmed and burnt out and by March they’re not taking any action towards their goals and they’re back to doing the same old thing that they did last year.

Today I want to talk to you about an amazing concept that’s been pivotal in my life and it’s helped my clients achieve the results and the success that they are looking for....

There Are No Bad Teams, Only Bad Leaders

I hope you’re having an amazing day.

I’ve just finished reading Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink & Leif Babin, it’s an incredible read and I highly recommend it.

In their book, they talk about a concept which is that there are no bad teams, only bad leaders.

This is a super interesting concept for me, and one that I want to explore with you a little bit more in today’s post.

This teaching element is based on the premise that every leader and every business owner needs to take absolute and extreme ownership for everything that is in their life and for everything that occurs and happens around them.

So, if a team member or an entire team is performing poorly or fails to hit a deadline or gets a terrible outcome on a project, it is actually not the team’s fault, but the leader or business owner’s fault.

Instead of blaming or berating the team for what went wrong, we need to stop, pause and ask ourselves “how...

Create A Community

A topic that has come up a lot recently in my group coaching programs is how do you influence, motivate and inspire those around you to perform at their best.

It’s a super interesting topic and one that has a number of angles to it. Today I want to explore with you one element or angle that makes a significant difference to being able to motivate, inspire and get the most out of your team and the people around you which is - Create A Community.

You see many leaders and business owners fall into the trap or the assumption that just because their team and the people around them are working and have a job, that they’re automatically inspired and motivated to perform at their best all the time. This simply isn’t true.

It is the role of every leader and every business owner to be looking for ways to constantly inspire and motivate those around them to continue to push themselves, to get outside of their comfort zone, and to perform at their best. ...

Fit Your Oxygen Mask First

As we come into the end of the year, there is a really important concept that I want to remind you of in today’s post.

And that is, you need to be really conscious of looking after yourself and fitting your oxygen mask first.

Let me explain.

You see sometimes as leaders & business owners, we get caught up in feeling hyper responsible for our team, our business and everyone around us. We feel like we need to be working the hardest. Working the longest hours. Wearing the brunt of all the issues and challenges and taking that all on for ourselves.

Today I want to remind you that if you don’t look after yourself first, then you’re no good to your team, your business, your family and all the people around you.

If you’ve noticed that you’re slipping into saying yes to everyone, trying to be all things to all people, and spreading yourself thin to keep the people around you happy, then this post is for you.

Today I want to remind...

The Downside Of Pursuing Comfort

Do you want to step out of your comfort zone and achieve bigger things for your business and self-growth?

Do you want to be more conscious when you start to pursue things that make you comfortable?

If we are always in our comfort zone we are not growing. If you want to be at a level of success, achieve new things, set new goals you have to set the intention to do the uncomfortable. Getting out of our comfort zone is not easy but with the right determination and focus, you can achieve it.

As a business leader, you have to recognise that you and your team members are naturally wired to pursue what is comfortable. Recognising what naturally occurs to us as humans is a step towards understanding how to overcome it.
